The Quiet Month

Most people quit on day four.

Because they expected day one. This page is the honest clock: what to watch for, and when it is fair to judge it.

Day 1Week 2Day 30

The clock

Four points, thirty nights.

Day 1

Plug it in and walk away.

Nothing happens today, and nothing should. She may sniff the socket once. That is all you will see.

Day 3–7

Watch the first ten minutes.

For dogs: how long it takes him to lie down after the door closes. For cats: which part of the room she chooses.

Week 2

Count, do not judge.

If there were three marks a week, look for two. Partial is the normal shape of this.

Week 4

Now decide.

Thirty nights, one room, one vial. If nothing has changed, write to us — you keep the device.

Thirty nights. Then decide.

What to write down

One line a week is enough.

Keep it boring: a date, what happened, where. Three lines over four weeks tell you more than a memory does, and they make the decision at day thirty easy instead of emotional.

  • Day 1: what you saw before anything changed.
  • Day 7: where the animal chooses to sit or sleep.
  • Day 14: how many incidents this week, compared with the first.
  • Day 30: the decision. Keep it, refill it, or write to us.
